My Brother.
On May 7, 1969 after three days in the jungle patrolling for Viet Cong we were on our way back to Dong Tam. Dale was walking point and looking for a place to cross a small canal when a deafening explosion abruptly went off. Dale, Specialist 4 Alfonso Hernandez and myself were wounded. Dale's wounds were mortal and he died the next day at the Dong Tam Hospital. Dale I only knew you for a short time, but I will never forget you.

Remembering An American Hero
Dear PFC Dale Allen Fahrni, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, Sir
Curt Carter

A Hero Remembered
Dale,
This year my 8th grade students have been working on a project to put faces with the names of each of the 1159 men from the state of Wisconsin who are listed on "The Wall." It is our hope that through your picture your legacy will live forever.
Thank you for your service to your country and for your sacrifice.
You are not forgotten.
