A Love's Note

Walt and I go way back, in fact, so far back, I don't like to think of how many years have passed.
I think of fall school days, walking hand-in-hand through October leaves. Days that were still warm, and the nights cool and crisp. I think of late nights at the drive-in,
making out and missing the entire movie. I travil in my mind back to the days when we were young, when the world was our playground and dreams were reality. My mind takes me back to picnics at the park, reading under oak trees and carnavels in the spring. I think of getting caught in the rain, hats lost in March winds and snowballs in January.
Loving Walt was easy to do and I loved him with all my heart. As the days grow short for me, I long for him and wait for Heaven's gates to open so we can be one again. I patiently wait.

I have thought about you Walter for 36 years.

When I was 14 I received my POW/MIA bracelet. Walter O Estes is the name on my bracelet that I recieved back then and wear on my wrist today. I wear Walters name along with another POW/MIA. Even though Walter's remains were returned I can not take him off my wrist. I want to make sure he is remembered in my heart and soul. I have instructed my children to take my bracelets and wear them when I pass on. When I am having a bad day all I have to do is look at my wrist and realize my day is okay. Thank you Watler for being an American Hero to me all these years. I live in Michigan and have visited Willamston many times and it gives me goose bumps to know I may be walking where he walked. To a man, a hero and American I toast you Walter.

God Bless You

I recieved his MIA braclet when I was just 5 years old and have kept it all of these years. This summer I visited the wall with my son and nieces and nephews and showed them the braclet and his name on the wall.

We were all quite moved and the children were very inquisitive, which led to an engaging conversation regarding our country's current situation.
