Remembering An American Hero

Dear LCPL Edward Stanley Estes, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter

We never met but I saw that you recieved the Silver Star and I wanted to say Thank you for your gallantry. My dad was a gunny in WW2 and I lost my Bubba named Edward Mckim at Quang Tri. Edward also recieving the Star. What breaks my heart is that the world took such a loss when you men were taken from us at such an early age. I know for sure that Heaven is well watched over with you guys there. Ya'll are thought of everyday by us that
are left behind.

My Friend

You died and won the silver star trying to save a squadmember down in the street in Hue. You knew you shouldn't try to save him, that the NVA were just waiting, but you did it anyway. That was just who you were, you couldn't let a buddy just lay there and bleed out. You were a great Marine and we shared many times good and bad and I am a better man for knowing you. It should have been me.
