CAPT John C. Ellison - POW/MIA RECOGNITION DAY 2019

CAPT John C. Ellison - POW/MIA RECOGNITION DAY 2019
The Department of Defense conducted a ceremony at the Pentagon on Friday, 20 September 2019 in recognition of POW/MIA Recognition Day. Deputy Defense Secretary David L. Nordquist remembered the 1,587 MIAs from the Vietnam War as well as all those still unaccounted for from WWII, the Korean War, the Cold War and other conflicts. Since the 2018 Ceremony, DPAA has positively identified 7 Vietnam War MIAs. Captain John Cooley Ellison, USNA Class of 1952, is one of those 1,587 MIAs unaccounted for in Southeast Asia from the Vietnam War. He is one of 4 graduates from his U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis class who is still MIA. The other 3 USNA Class of 1952 MIAs are: (1) CAPT Donald Aldern; (2) Col. John O’Grady, USAF; & (3) Col. Charles Read, USAF.

Never Give Up.

I have thought of CDR Ellison every year since receiving his MIA bracelet as a freshman in college. For years, I searched for family and thanks to the Wall of Faces that happened. The search for him must continue. He is in my thoughts and prayers as is the Ellison family.

My Dad would be honored by your kind words!

I can’t change what happened to my father but I can keep the fire lit another generation! Write your Congress tell them we need a full accounting of the men missing in Southeast Asia! Thanks John Ellison jr.
