1LT Jerome Elkins, Pilot of O-1E 57-6271, You are remembered.

1LT Jerome Elkins was a U.S. Air Force Forward Air Controller serving with the 6250th Support Squadron, 6253rd Combat Support Group, 13th Air Force. On August 27, 1965, 1LT Elkins was piloting a USAF O-1E Bird Dog (# 57-6271) in support of U.S. Marines with an unknown Vietnamese observer during a visual reconnaissance mission just south of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) over Quang Tri Province, RVN. Elkin’s aircraft never returned from the mission, and a later search found the crash site. The bodies of the two crewmen were recovered. [Taken from coffeltdatabase.org and fac-assoc.org]

Dear Lt Jerome Elkins,
Thank you for your service as a Pilot. We remember all you who gave their all. It has been too long, and it's about time for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.
