Fond Remembrance
I was an officer in Carl's company, the 643d Engineers (PL)(CS). We went to Vietnam on a troopship. One evening, as the sun was setting, he said to me, "Lieutenant, I wonder how many of us will not return from Vietnam". He was one of two men who lost their lives during our one year tour of duty. I fine young man and I still remember him often and wonder what he could have done with his energetic life. Charles McDuff, Marietta, GA 3 June 1999.
