Made an wonderful impression on a young baseball player

He was my coach in Dixie Youth Basball when I was probably 12 years old. Made such an impression on me when he was a very humble young Christian man. Treated all of us boys with respect and was just a great example. When I saw the announcement of his death on the bulletin board at my church, I was just stunned. Then I read about his heroism and was very proud and impressed. But I was not surprised. I later played ball at RV Edwards Field in Pineville. I've always remembered him and always will. God bless his family.

What a good guy

I went to high school with R.V. I stil remember his smile and kindness to me even though i was a year younger. I used to deliver the newspaper to his home too and would see him almost every day. His funeral was held on my 17 birthday.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear LCPL R V Edwards, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter
