My LT
I was Lt. Edgren's sargent. We got ambushed Aug. 5 and I was on point. You could not see sometimes 15 feet due to the thick jungle sometimes. The NVA had took control of his area in 1968 and we were sent back to this remote area. Aug. 8. another platoon had point and we got ambushed again. They got chewed up and half of our platoon did also. Calvin Ramsey our machine was killed and Lt. Edgren picked the machine gun up and returned fire and was wia. Everyone did they best they could, it was bad. Any questions give me a call. Sincerely, Jimmy Morrison

Lt. Thomas Edgren
I've read SMJUHSD.org post regarding Lt Edgren's final mission. The implication is that he led his men into an ambush due to his inexperience that led to 5 KIA's including himself. As a a former infantry Lt.in Viet Nam I take exception to this conclusion. I know that you can get caught in an ambush regardless of experience level. At this point in time to place fault on an officer that gave his life for his country is not only misplaced but shameful.
