Hi Bobby, I was drafted in 1970 along with Richie Lees from St.Gregory's and St.Tommy More your old schools. You went in the same time as my brother Danny.I can think of some good memories from West Philly,Me and Richie get together once a year at an army reunion in an American Legion post in Port Richmond,N.E.Philly,We talk about old times, and the times we spent at boot camp with the guys from the reunion ,the whole ist floor of the the barracks were all draftees from philly, and we give a toast to you, sometimes one too many, and a salute of respect and sadness. You are not forgotten, Jim Devine

University Camp Buddy

Dupell; I see your name on The Wall in Philadelphia and I wonder if you are the same Dupell that I met at summer camp sponsored by the Univ. of Pa. Young Christian Society. You were younger so your date of birth seems right. If it's you, or even if it's another "Dupell" I am sorry, it was a waste, the whole thing was a waste.
All of us poor, inner-city kids, we grew up with these romantic ideas of what was right and what was wrong..the good guys always wore white hats..yeh, right! But we did our best, didn't we! Each and every one of us just tried to survive. Sometimes I wonder who made out on this "deal," those of you who died, or we who came back and whose lives were just never the same. I have tried to refuse and deny the impact of it all, but I am reminded almost daily in dreams, in feelings of anger and pain and sorrow. I've done my best to survive all of it yet sometimes I feel lost, out of touch, looking for something that's lost: my innocence maybe! It's a struggle at times. I want peace! Take Care "Dupell," and think of us, Pray for us!
