Clifford was a good friend
After 55 years I came across this site . I served with Cliff (as I called him) in Viet Nam. His death still is fresh on my mind. You see I was the medic and I could not save him.
It still haunts me that I could not save him.

MY FRIEND DRAPER
I was on LZ Schueller fire support base near An Khe in the Central Highlands in 1968. I only knew him as Draper, assigned to a 105 Howitzer crew. He was the easiest guy to like. He was killed by a mortar attack while on guard duty. This photo attached was taken a few nights before he was taken. Draper on the left with my arm around him drinking in our bunker. https://photocogitator.com/nam-68-cond

honoring you...
Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. While all deaths in Vietnam are tragic that you died three days before your 24th birthday is especially so. May you rest in eternal peace.

Dear PFC Clifford Draper,
Thank you for your service as a Field Artillery Basic. Today is Flag Day. We remember all you who gave their all. It has been too long, and it's about time for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.
