Thank You

Dear Lt Thomas Dowd,
Thank you for your service as a Basic Infantry Officer. We remember all you who gave their all. It has been too long, and it's about time for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

The three Dowd Marines.....

Hey Tom.....I see it's been about thirteen years since I wrote last. We've talked many times since that, so I thought I'd drop you another note now. As I look through this new web site, I'm seeing pictures of many of the Marines who were KIA in my platoon. I attended a reunion with my platoon this past summer down in Gettysburg. We've been getting together every year now for the last (12) years. When I got to Gettysburg, I had to drive over to Dennis and Phyllis' house.......Denny says he's retired from the horse shoeing business but Phillis says "no he isn't." They both looked great....still in the same house that Lee and I visited about 30 years ago. How time flies. My older brother Jim, lives not too far from brother John....John and I email once in awhile. He and Carol are really something. What a great family and friends I have with the Dowds. Won't be long before I'll see you in Heaven and as "PL" would say....."eyeball to eyeball is the best way to communicate." Later Tom.......your friend, RC

Remembering An American Hero

Dear 2LT Thomas Brown Dowd, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter
