Thank You

Dear SSGT Luther Doss,
Thank you for your service as an Airborne Qualified Infantry Operations & Intelligence Specialist. Today is the 74th anniversary of the D-Day Invasion. We remember all you who gave their all. It has been too long, and it's about time for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Western Electric employee

A wonderful young man and friend .We worked together before he entered service. He would tell me about his family especially his son that l think was 2 years old at the time. l remember when we received the message he had lost his life, l went to see him and met the family.

On Memorial Day

My dearest Jim

It is Memorial Day and my thoughts again return to you and the sacrifice you and many others made for our country. We put up the flag and while others celebrate with fun and games, this day is a day of reflection. Reflection of a life cut short, a child raised without a father, a wife lost and scared. David and I have continued to live and go on but a hole will always remain in our hearts.

We want you to know you will never be forgotten you will always be missed and most of all you will always be loved.

Love,

Bobby

Remembering an American Hero

Dear SSGT Luther James Doss Jr, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say 'thank you'; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter
