Do Not Stand at my Grave and Weep

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

Remembering Pookie

You were a best buddy of my husband's so very long ago. But to this very day he suffers such guilt because you went to Nam and he did not. He cannot forgive himself because you died over there and he did not.
He will take that guilt with him to his grave. But it was just not in God's plans for him to die in that awful war that took your future and your life from you. Sharon lost the love of her life the day you died. And he lost one of his best friends.
Pookie you will be remembered and never forgotten .
Thank you for the unselfish sacrifice you made for our country.
I hope one day that you and my husband can be reunited again.
Till then Pookie Rest in peace
