Bob, I was wounded when you died. Our friend Steve Porter also died of his wounds. I have been searching for your family all these years. You were a good marine and your family should be proud of you. I look forward to seeing you on the other side. Semper fi, my friend.

My Dear Friend

Bob Arrived to Echo 2/1 in late April or early May 1969. In that short itme, Bob , and I became good friends. We both had our M-16's fail while trying to shoot 3 gooks running by us on the right flank of our unit on Ganoi Island during Pipestone canyon. I was wounded at 3:30AM in the morning on 7/9/69. Seven of us were hit by our own 155 artillery fire shooting H&I's. I found out the next day that Bob, and Steve Porter were killed by a booby trap. I was heart broken! Bob was a fine young man. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and was very considerate of others. He did his duty well. I know God is taking good care of Bob in Heaven. I still miss him.
