Remembering An American Hero
Dear CPL Arthur Andrew Dehn, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, Sir
Curt Carter

I Don't Forget
I went to high school with Art. I remember how excited he was when he came back from basic training with his hair cut short. It was less than a year later when I learned that he had been killed in Vietnam. After the Vietnam Memorial opened I travelled to Washington and looked up Art's name on the wall. Two rows below my name I saw a William E. Hawkins; that is my name. I have never stopped realizing that I could have perished also. I have never not been thankful for every day I have been given on this earth. I will always honor Art's memory and talk about him frequently when I do speaking engagements around the United States. I am forever indebted to Art, Bill Hawkins and the 57,000 who made the "ultimate sacrifice". Art has had a profound impact on my life and I will never forget him and the price he paid. The Bible states that, "no greater love hath man, than he lay down his life for another". I know that Art has a high place in heaven and know that one day in the future; I will see him again. I'm sure he is a mighty warrior in God's Army.
God Bless Art Dehn's Memory-Bill Hawkins
