You and Me from Tom Moore USARV 68-69 SP4 34th ENG.
The last time I saw you was just before we were split up to serve in different places. I never saw you again and found out you had passed while I was in the Mekong Delta.
We had spent most of our time together sitting on my father's front porch talking the hours away. You were the best friend I ever had.
When we were split up, I was upset, and I will never forget what you said. "We might not be in the same place over here but, if you and I promise each other to look at the moon each night and think about each other, it will be like we're still together.' I still look at the moon Bill. I know you are too. No one would ever believe two guys that cussed so much would end one day with you being a poet and me still looking up.
I married my best girl and for 54 years we have been together and had two sons. I know that would make you smile.
