Remembering an American Hero

Dear LCPL Thomas Joseph Dean III, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter

An American Hero

I am a student from Chartiers Valley High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. My class is going on a field trip to Washington D.C. and we have to do a rubbing at the Vietnam Wall. Since I have no relatives who were killed in Vietnam, I chose to do someone who had my same birthday. I searched my birthday and found out that Thomas Joseph Dean III had the same birthday, same middle name, and was born in the same state as me. He is the one on the wall who has the closest connection with me. He was a true American Hero who gave his life to secure our freedom. I will see you Tommy when I visit the Wall.
