Happy Birthday Grandpa! Though neither Dad nor I were ever lucky enough to meet you in this life, we both think about you all the time, and we talked about you together quite a lot just a few days ago. I went to visit you earlier today and am pleased to report that your name still rings proud on that now eternal stone. I love you Grandpa, rest easy, drink up, and I look forward to the day we meet for the first time on a higher plane!!!

I happened on Jerrold's grave today. I'm so sorry that he left this life such a young man. I salute him and his heroism.

Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. The remembrance from your high school classmate Mary Bearnson is touching. As long as you are remembered you will always be with us….

Corporal Jerrold Bernell Day was awarded the Silver Star Medal for his conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action. He served as an Infantryman and was assigned to
C CO, 2ND BN, 8TH CAVALRY, 1ST CAV DIV.
