In the neighborhood

Joe lived on 30th st.in Mt.Rainier,I also lived on 30th st.1 block away.He would be standing outside of his house in the morning getting ready to go to school.I would walk past his house and we would walk to school together.I remember him as somewhat quiet but very nice guy.I remember the ill feeling that came over me when i heard he was killed in action!Joe was and is a true hero and patriot forever!

Throw me one more pass

I remember the day you left for viet nam. I was 9 yrs old playing football in your front yard with your brother Tommie. You came out of the house to throw us a few passes. I was so happy to catch the deep "Hail Mary pass" that you threw. You were in uniform and we begged you not to go and to throw just one more pass. As you stood in the door of the cab you threw the last high pass that seemed to touch the sky. I caught that one too. You told us to keep playing and never forget our freedom. Later we heard you were killed when a granade came into your area and you threw yourself on it to protect your fellow men. We miss you. Character like that is rarely seen.

Not forgotten

Joseph, Although we never met, I just want you to know you are not forgotten. You gave the ultimate sacrifice, your life for what you believed in. Sleep well my friend, and thank you for protecting our freedoms.
