If I should die...remembrances for MAJ. Charles Edward DARR, USAF...who made the ultimate sacrifice!
If I should die, and leave you here awhile, be not like others, sore undone, who keep long vigils by the silent dust, and weep...for MY sake, turn again to life, and smile...Nerving thy heart, and trembling hand to do something to comfort other hearts than thine...Complete these dear, unfinished tasks of mine...and I, perchance, may therein comfort you.

A remembrance
When I first enlisted in the Air Force, I purchased a commemorative bracelet with Maj. Darr's name on it. I wore it during every mission I flew as a reminder of those airmen who came before me and the sacrifices they made.

You will never be forgotten
I am a friend of the daughter you never knew. She was born 3 months after you were shot down. I know you've been looking after your family all these years, so I hardly need to tell you how proud you would be.
We attended your funeral 16 years after you were shot down, and it was quite surreal. It was odd finally having a funeral when we were in high school for someone who died before we were born.
You will never be forgotten, because you have touched so many lives. The loved you shared with your family is still apparent all these years later. You now have 2 grandsons and a granddaughter, and you can be sure they will always remember the hero they never knew. I know I will.
