We Will Remember

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

Thank You

Dear Sp4 James Dankowski,
Thank you for your service as an Infantryman. Today is Good Friday, and Passover begins tonight. Easter is coming up. Happy Easter. It is so important for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Two Sisters Remember Their Brother James Dankowski

James Dankowski was a soldier from Mackinac Island but also lived most of his years in Cleveland, Ohio. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Cleveland through 8th grade. Sometime later James moved with his Mother Fran Dankowski to Mackinac Island. Here James graduated from Mackinac Island High School.
There are currently two pictures of James on his VVMF page. The first is his service picture in uniform. This same picture is also on display in the veterans room of the Stuart House City Museum at Mackinac Island. James is pictured in the room with other fallen soldiers of the Island. The veterans room opened in 2009. The second picture was taken of James with his Mother Fran on the left and his Grandmother Sophie Traska in the middle.
The pictures were provided by two of James' Sisters- Caroline McGreevy and Rita Hudec, both of Ohio. In 2013, Caroline and Rita attended a commemoration on the Island. Every Memorial Day the Mother of a fallen soldier is honored with a floral wreath. James' Mother had already passed away so the daughters accepted the wreath in their Mother's absence.
