Photo and article were taken from the Philadelphia Daily News of October 26, 1987. The special supplement entitled, 'SIX HUNDRED AND THIRTY,' was published in conjunction with the dedication of the Philadelphia Viet Nam Memorial.
Danielles told his mother he was going to Viet Nam "because I have a job to do." The 20-year-old Marine private first class had attended Thomas Edison High School, where he ran track, and had worked as a stock boy in a cigar factory before enlisting in December 1964. The rifleman, assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 26th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, was killed in Con Thien, Quang Tri Province, on September 10, 1967. He was engaged to be married. Survivors included his mother.
