honoring you...

A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam
And for a brief moment its glory
and beauty belong to our world
But then it flies again
And though we wish it could have stayed...
We feel lucky to have seen it.

Thank You

Dear Sp4 Michael Dagnon,
Thank you for your service as an Indirect Fire Infantryman with the 1st Cavalry. Easter is coming up. Happy Easter. It is so important for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear SP4 Michael Erwin Dagnon, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter

Gary Owen

I've heard many times of the honor and bravery that you and your squad brothers exhibited on Oct 20, 1969. You served along side my father. Although I did not know you personally, I feel a connection to you. My friend, Garry Owen.

If you served with this Soldier, please contact me. I'd appreciate hearing your story.

You Didn't Have A Chance To Grow Old

I was a good friend of your older brother, Tom. I learned that you died in Vietnam many years ago. I was saddened, but I knew your twin brother, Mark, was spared the hardship that you had to endure. We salute your sacrifice and wish that all people could learn that wars and violence do not solve anything that they may wish to accomplish. Yet I look around in 2008, nearly 40 years after your ultimate sacrifice, and little is much different. I don't know if you ever thought it, but an old rock song, "The Beat Goes On", by Sonny & Cher; rings through my mind.
