Final Mission of PFC Timothy C. Abrams Jr.
PFC Timothy C. Abrams Jr. died on January 3, 1967 when high winds blew a stone structure on to the tent in which he was sleeping in the Company Area in the Mang Yang Pass. The following is a personal account of the incident – “PFC Abrams was a battalion driver, he was a real nice kid and a very respectful young man. This happened in the TOC (tactical operations center) area on Hwy 19. The weather had been very cold with high winds. We were all trying to stay warm and out of the high winds when the tragic accident happened. There was a standing wall made of cinder blocks that had been a part of an old house or store. The tent was erected on the wrong side of that wall and high winds blew the wall onto the tent." (Narrative by Ken Whitmier) [Taken from cacti35th.org]

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

Throughout our history America has been built, on the blood of Heroes, and Brave Men of Honor like Timothy Abrams. Thank you Sir for your service to our Country; you are a true American Hero remembered by me; a grateful American and I'm sure remembered by other Americans of a FREE Nation. Timothy is buried in Cedar Oak Memorial Park Cemetery, Tuscaloosa Alabama
