I remember Butch jogging down the street in front of my house as a teenager training for golden gloves. Those of us from south Jackson remember you fondly and often. I was in Vietnam when you were mortally wounded but weren't aware of it until some time later. Gone but not forgotten. Slow had salute brother.

A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam
And for a brief moment its glory
and beauty belong to our world
But then it flies again
And though we wish it could have stayed...
We feel lucky to have seen it.

Today I visited the Moving Vietnam Wall and found your name. I was born on the very day you were killed 49 years ago. Words cannot express my sadness that you were not able to lead a longer life, nor the gratitude I feel for your service. I am glad you are missed by so many. Rest in Peace.
