Veteran

Richard,
We served together at Fort Campbell and in the same platoon in B 1/327 101st ABN. You were a gentle giant, we called you Baby Huey. You were the last of the original members of our "A" gun in 3rd Platoon after Rodger and Jack died. You died taking out a NVA machine gun that was killing American troops, you are what the word HERO is all about. I morn you loss. You were a good man and a better soldier.

Member of "A" gun team

Richard never served as a wireman while in B 1/327. He was one of the three men making up the "A" gun M-60 machine gun team in our platoon from the time we joined the company until his time of death.

Baby Huey

Served with Richard in 3rd BDE HHC from early 1964 and together in the same platoon in Vietnam. His nickname was Baby Huey because he was so big and easy going. Feburary 7, 1966 he lost his life saving other AMERICANS by assisting in taking out an heavy enemy machine gun that was killing our company. Because of him others are alive today.
