Ground Casualty
PFC Joseph A. Cross was an Airborne-qualified infantryman serving with A Company, 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry, 173rd Airborne Brigade. On November 15, 1966, PFC Cross was on a patrol with his unit in Vietnam when he fell while attempting to cross a river by rope. Cross was drowned in the incident. His body was recovered.
