I served with "I" 3/26 a same time Cronkite served. I was there for Battle Hill 48 which is where he was KIA. 2900 NVA vs. 500 Marines. We were first company up the hill and it was a slugfest from first shot until the NVA pulled out. Read AMBUSH VALLEY by Eric Hammel. I will never forget the date of 9/10/67. We were the first going up Hill 48 when we were met by a regiment of NVA (about 2900). We had an understrengthed battalion (about 500 or less) Marines.
