Final Mission of MAJ Charles L. Cronkrite
On June 21, 1967, MAJ Charles L. Cronkrite, who, after his transfer from Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 232 (VMFA-232) to the group staff, continued flying with the Red Devils, was killed. After experiencing mechanical difficulties, MAJ Cronkrite ejected from his F-8E and it was suspected that the pilot was unconscious when he hit the water. [Taken from archive.org]
