Thank You

Dear Major Charles Cronkite,
Thank you for your service as a VMM (I) Pilot. You were born on my mom's birthday. Say hi to her, her name is Rose. It is so important for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Final Mission of MAJ Charles L. Cronkrite

On June 21, 1967, MAJ Charles L. Cronkrite, who, after his transfer from Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 232 (VMFA-232) to the group staff, continued flying with the Red Devils, was killed. After experiencing mechanical difficulties, MAJ Cronkrite ejected from his F-8E and it was suspected that the pilot was unconscious when he hit the water. [Taken from archive.org]
