Remembering Mogie part 2.

This is an amendment to my previous remembrance as to why Denton Crocker Jr. has influenced my life. Because of his story and the senselessness of his death I am reminded from Mogie to value every day of life and to be kind and love humanity and to be brave and love my family. I was born June 3, 1966, his 19th birthday and the day before his death. I didn’t know this until a few days ago. Perhaps this is one of the many reasons why I am so drawn to the story of his short life that indeed had purpose and influence. Words cannot express how this whole mess could have happened bringing so many young men and women to their premature deaths. I can only hope that somehow we can learn from stories like Mogie’s. Thank you Ken Burns for letting Mogie’s family share parts of his life and thanks to the Crocker family for giving us such a clear and loving remembrance of the truly honorable and sincere human being he was and, also, for sharing the pictures of his beautiful, happy years. Thank you for giving us Mogie. Again, with sincerity, Laura Blake, USMC.

Mogie, you are in my thoughts and you have influenced my life.

I saw Mogie featured on Ken Burns Vietnam documentary. His story fascinated me and I was pulled in by the whole disturbing waste of the life of someone who had so much to give. I was moved by the stories and events his family shared. It wasn’t till much later that I learned we shared a birthday and I also learned he died the day after his 19th birthday. He is one of my hero’s. Rest in sweet peace Mogie.
With all respect and sincerity, Laura Blake

Mogie

I don’t know you but I feel like part of me does. I was born 5 years after your passing. I have watched Ken Burns’ documentary many times over . Your experience resonated with me. I’ve always been interested in the Vietnam War, as I was born during this time. In part, it’s why I joined the Marines. It makes me sad to know so many young men gave their lives during this period in our nation’s history. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten. I can’t imagine the loss your family felt. I want to thank them. Thank you for your sacrifice. Semper Fi Mogie.

honoring you...

Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. While all deaths in Vietnam are tragic that you died just one day after your 19th birthday is especially so. May you rest in eternal peace.
