Remembering An American Hero
Dear LCPL Dale Eugene Crick, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter

"50,000 Names on the Wall" , George Jones.
Graduated FHS in 1965.
Dale was one of those people that always had a smile on his face and was having a great time in life.
Remembering:
Hallways at FHS, Slide Rock, Dutchman's Hole, Kegers, Red Rock Crossing, City Park Hall, Armory, FHS Gym dances, Sadie Hawkins Day, Sock Hops, Dairy Queen, Eddie's Drive In, cruising Route 66, stopping traffic in front of Dairy Queen, throwing water balloons from the top of Monte Vista, Cruising Central, Kegers, snowballs, Beeline drags, Fort Valley drags, Winslow drags, Airport drags, Babbitt's, Bayless, Yiya's, football trips, track trips.....
While living in York, PA we visited the sites in DC - May 2006.
Went to the Vietnam Memorial. The other memorials had a lot of noise, conversations, kids running around, etc - when we walked up to the Vietnam Memorial it was like a church service - so quiet - so respectful - so emotionally intense.... many people kneeling, standing, staring, placing mementos...
While walking down the wall - glancing at the thousands of names my eyes caught Dale's name - it was as if he was saying Hi Mike - I'm here. Stunned me.
Made a rubbing - took a picture, Also made one of David J. and Danny S.
We were all so fortunate to grow up in Flagstaff. We just didn't know it at the time. Have been in a lot of places but Flagstaff and growing up there was a blessing.
To make up for the way the Vietnam Vets were treated, we regularly pick up the tab when we see armed forces having a meal. Was surrounded by a group of Airborne in Nashville after purchasing their lunch - thought they were going to remove my hand/arm. Same in Columbus, OH. with some National guard.
Rest in Peace Dale
