REMEMBRANCES

LEFT FOR JOSEPH WILLIAM CRARY
POSTED ON 1.8.2008

I remember.

Bill Crary, a grade school and high school classmate of mine, was a wise, kind, and gentle person. He opposed the war and sought CO status. His hometown, his church, and his nation denied him that status. Instead the courts sentenced him to death by "multiple fragmentation wounds." I feel shame on myself, on Fargo, on the Catholic Church, and on the USA everytime I recall the circumstances leading to this person's death. In my opinion Bill Crary died as a result of our ignorance and lack of courage in support of peace while we rush to war, a condition that still prevails in the USA today (January 2008).

THANKS

Thank you Joe Crary for serving your Country. I use
to live about one block from
where you lived and was a friend of your cousin. I served, but never was sent to
Viet Nam. I'm sorry that some people don't understand that you did your duty and had no
choice about serving your County. Thank you and thank you to your family and friends. D. Moe
