My memory of you
You were that huge, scary looking guy in airframes when I first reported for duty with the squadron. But you were actually nothing of the sort. When we both got our orders and were doing SERE together in CA I told you I was getting nervous about deployment. You said, " I'm big. Stand behind me, and you'll be alright." Those, I think, are the words of a valiant worrier, not of a huge scary guy from airframes. Forty-nine years later, I thank you for those sincere words offered to a confused, frightened, 18 year old boy from power plants. And, thank you for the sacred gift you selflessly gave to our nation. Fair winds.
