You made a difference
On Saturday, May 8th, I was at the Vietnam Memorial, The Wall, and I happened to be standing by Mr. Abraham's name when a man asked for a rubbing of his name. The man was telling the park worker that Roosevelt Abraham, Jr. had only been in country two weeks. The park worker told the man that he was sorry for his loss. I stood there with tears running down because I was in the presence of grief, and honor. I am a nurse at a VA clinic and I have worked with Vietnam veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder since 1987. I have been privileged to hear so many stories of love, and loyalty and courage. I want to thank the man who was there at the Wall on Saturday; he reminded me that the healing needs to continue, and that the fallen are forever remembered.
