Ground Casualty
PFC Mark L. Corrie and PFC Russell E. Krause were mortarmen serving with Headquarters & Service Company, 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines, 3rd Marine Division. On June 3, 1966, they were traveling in a military vehicle in the vicinity of Phu Bai in Thua Thien Province, RVN, when the vehicle accidently overturned. Both Marines suffered fatal crushing injuries of the chest and abdomen. On June 10, 1966, the Battalion chaplain conducted a memorial service at the rear Command Post for PFC Corrie and PFC Krause.
