Even Though
We met briefly in the legendary halls of SMHS. I may have had a class or two with you. We took separate journeys in our lives. Even though we were in the Army at the same time you were assigned to Nam and I to Korea. I remember you Alfred. And I am delivering to you my salute!! Thank you my brother.

I was a friend of Alfred and two of his brothers
In 1956 Shoreview Elementary's baseball team was tied with Turnbull Elemetary's team in the 9th inning. Alfred Cornejo had pitched a no hitter to that point, and now it was his turn to bat. The players on our side had heard how strong he was, so I moved way deep into center field, but my coach made me move back in. Al drove that ball, so far over my head, I never reached the ball until he hit home plate. We played sports in Jr. High, & High School too. We went to Viet Nam at the same time in the Army. His happy smile was contagious. The girls loved him. He was really looked up to by guys like me. I know he is still the same guy in heaven. Jerry W. Biehl, Ret. LTC, USAR

Remembering An American Hero
Dear PFC Alfred Joseph Cornejo, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter

You wanted to take me on a date.
You knew my brothers, Paul, David and Danny Muro.
But I was a little ole freshman and you were a senior at San Mateo High. You came to our door to ask my Dad if you could take me on a date. "You're too old for her" he said. You came again another day, talked to my Dad while he was repairing his car. Again "NO!" I saw you through the window walk with your head down....I never saw you again. One day I will see you again....In Heaven. Until then. Mary Muro Nall, Dallas TEXAS
