Copter Crashes Into Sea, Kills Ex-Tri- City Marine.

A former Tri- Citian killed in Vietnam last week was to have come home in two weeks. Killed in a helicopter crash was William Harold Cook, now of Mt. Vernon. He was a grandson of Hazel M. Brown, former owner of the Pioneer Nursing Home, Kennewick, now of Mt. Vernon, and brother of Mrs. John Householder,306 S. Zillah St. Kennewick. Cook was assigned to the Third Marine Division at Hue, Marine officials report Cook, a medic, was with a load of patients being transported from Phu Bai to Da Nang when the helicopter went down three miles at sea. Only the pilot was rescued. A Marine spokesman said there was thick fog. Family friends reported Cook was scheduled to arrive home this month. Cook, born in Texas, moved to the Tri- Cities in 1949 and left about three years ago when his parents moved to Mt. Vernon. Memorial services will be held in Mt. Vernon at 2 pm, Saturday at the Assembly fog God Church. (Tri-City Herald, Pasco, Kennewick, Richand WA)
