PFC Monroe J. Conley was a Supplyman serving with Headquarters & Headquarters Company (HHC), 326th Engineer Battalion, 101st Airborne Division, U.S. Army Republic of Vietnam. As a supply specialist, Conley was responsible for keeping Divisional engineers provided with supplies and equipment. During late 1970, through the period of American drawdown and the emphasis on Vietnamization, little new construction by engineer units occurred as most Department of Defense funds were expended on improving and modernizing Vietnamese facilities. The American profile lessened as South Vietnamese units assumed more of the burden of fighting and supporting its forces. On October 28, 1970, during this period of transition, Conley died in Thua Thien Province, RVN, where it was reported he took his own life. He was 20 years old. [Taken from coffeltdatabase.org]

PFC Monroe Jason Conley is buried in Section WWII/Site A13/West 8 of the Ferncliff Cemetery in Springfield, OH.
