VVMF cancels remainder of 2020 The Wall That Heals tour

08-04-2020

For the safety of our visitors, volunteers and staff, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund has made the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of the The Wall That Heals 2020 tour. This decision was not made lightly as we know that our 2020 site host committees have worked incredibly hard and put forth hundreds, if not thousands, of hours in their efforts to host the exhibit.

After taking a break from touring for more than four months, we restarted our 2020 season with a very good event in Bedford, Pennsylvania. The community received us with open arms. The host met our every request and volunteers willingly wore masks to meet our mandate throughout the week. Even the attendance numbers exceeded our expectations. While we were pleased with the operational changes we made to the site layout and operations because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we remain greatly concerned for the health and well-being of our visitors, volunteers and staff – especially as it relates to crowd size and masks or social distancing. While disappointed this decision has become necessary, we already are looking at dates in 2021 to reschedule these important events in communities across the country.

We are optimistic that we will be able to get back out on the road – in a safe and responsible manner for our visitors, volunteers and staff – in 2021. Until then, we thank you for your support of The Wall That Heals and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund.
