VVMF Statement on Veterans Day 2020

09-14-20

During this challenging time for our country, VVMF is announcing that the Veterans Day Ceremony at The Wall will be an online ceremony only.

We wanted to make this call now – at least 60 days out – to give those who planned to travel to Washington, D.C., ample time to adjust their schedules and travel plans as needed. There WILL be a Veterans Day Ceremony, but it will be a live webcast — NOT in person at The Wall.

We did not make this decision lightly, and like all of you, we hope this national health crisis ends soon. But we did not want people to make travel plans to attend in person, only to arrive and find out social distancing requirements have cancelled the event. Washington, D.C. remains in Phase 2 of its COVID-19 recovery plan and gatherings are still limited to 50 people.

We will observe Veterans Day 2020 with a virtual commemoration and we hope you will join us online at 1:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, November 11th. Visit https://www.vvmf.org/honorservice for more details.

We must take the necessary precautions to keep our attendees, volunteers and staff safe at this time. We certainly hope we can get back on our usual in-person ceremony schedule in 2021 as we look forward to welcoming you all back to The Wall as soon as we can safely gather in large numbers again. We appreciate your understanding during this difficult time.
