VVMF events and COVID-19
(Posted 09/14/2020 – 1:00 pm EST)
During this challenging time for our nation, nothing is more important to VVMF than the health and well-being of our Vietnam veterans and their families. We want to keep our visitors updated on openings/closings and events as the situation evolves.
While the National Park Service has not closed the national mall or The Wall, the D.C. region is still in phase 2 of its COVID recovery plan and no volunteers are on duty at The Wall.
We have made the difficult decision to not host an in-person ceremony at The Wall for Veterans Day. We will observe Veterans Day 2020 with a virtual commemoration and
we hope you will join us online at 1:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, November 11th. Visit https://www.vvmf.org/honorservice/ for more details.
For the safety of our visitors, volunteers and staff, VVMF has cancelled the remainder of The Wall That Heals 2020 tour. This decision was not made lightly as we know that our 2020 site host committees have worked incredibly hard and put forth hundreds, if not thousands, of hours in their efforts to host the exhibit. We are working with these communities to reschedule visits in 2021.
We originally postponed our 2020 In Memory ceremony to September but we have now cancelled our 2020 ceremony. We look forward to honoring our 2020 In Memory honorees when we are able to safely host the families and friends of our honorees in Washington, D.C.
Like all of you, we hope this national health crisis ends soon but we must take the necessary precautions to keep our visitors safe at this time. We look forward to welcoming you all back in large numbers soon. We appreciate your understanding during this difficult time.
