Biography
Gerald Lamont Baker, Smokey, served with the Navy in Vietnam between 1963 and 1967. During his third tour of duty, Gerald contracted a fungal infection which attacked his skin. Years of steroid treatment of this disorder weakened his heart and ultimately caused his death on December 25, 1993. Gerald served his country with honor and without complaint. Faced with hardship, he remained upbeat and positive.
