Still praying for you, Bruce
I got to know Bruce around 1988. He was suffering from PTSD for having been a good soldier. He never killed a civilian - only combatants. He was Special Forces - and went out on weekly 10 man missions in the jungle, for around 9 months - I think. He said most weeks one or two of them got killed or wounded and replacements would show for the next mission. After months of watching his fellow soldiers rotate out - wounded or dead, finally an Australian showed up who knew how to stay alive also. What haunted him most was when their fighting went through a village. They were fighting "man on man", and the man that was supposed to shoot him killed a lady birthing a baby behind a hut, that were in the line of fire. He said he was startled to see a baby being born, then she turned all red and fell to the ground. Bruce said if he hadn't been there that mother and baby would still be alive. He had reoccurring nightmares about that. When he landed in San Francisco he thought he'd be welcomed for the awful things he went through for our country - but people were lined up and spit on him, calling him a murder. Again - he never killed a civilian. Eternal rest Bruce. I still pray for you. Through the prayers of the Mother of God may our Savior save us - all!
