Biography

Rodney VanQuekelberg was born in Grand Rapids, Minnesota on June 29, 1947. He joined the Army in 1966 and was honorably discharged in 1969 as a SP4 (T). He served one year, six months and 26 days in Vietnam in the 630th Engineering Company. Upon his return from Vietnam, he started a family and had two children, Marcy and Jay. Rodney moved to Montana in 1978 and made it his permanent home. He worked various jobs, finally settling in with the Burlington National Santa Fe Railroad from which he retired from. Marcy and Jay blessed Rodney with four grandchildren who he adored, all of the grandkids couldn’t wait for Grandpa to bring the special treats he collected from his trips to the casino, the endless supply of Chicken ‘n’ Biscuit and spray cheese he kept ready and handy in the pantry, and tractor rides around the yard (even into adulthood!). Rodney died December 14, 2019 of Myocardial Infarction and Pancreatic Cancer as a result of Agent Orange exposure. He is missed and loved by all that knew him.
