Ronald David Rumford
Ron Rumford was born on September 22, 1948, in Santa Monica, California. He graduated from Huntington Beach High School where he met his future wife. He joined the US Marine Corps in the fall of 1967, married his wife Sandra Osterberg Rumford in March 1968 and he shipped out to Vietnam in June of 1968. After serving his tour in Vietnam Ron and Sandra went on to have two sons, one daughter, and three grandchildren. Ron continued his education at Orange Coast College upon returning home and eventually worked in the printing industry for years. He was an active Dad and Granddad. He enjoyed family activities, camping, and traveling with his wife and family. He loved cruises, Hawaii, Mexico, South Pacific, and his bucket list trip to visit Normandy in France and honor those men and women who gave their lives for our freedom. He was a true Charger fan !! Ron was proud of his military service and belonged to the American Legion 291 in Newport Beach, CA for years. He passed away at the Long Beach Veterans Hospital on March 21, 2021, two hours short of his 53rd wedding anniversary. He died due to Mantle Cell Lymphoma caused by exposure to Agent Orange during his service in Vietnam. His life was “a life well lived”…..he is so missed by his family and friends. We cherish our memories with him and look forward to seeing him again on the other side.
