Alfonso Louis Pompili , Jr.
Alfonso Louis Pompili Jr was born on December 21, 1948 in Morgantown West Virginia. He graduated from Morgantown High School in 1966. Alfonso joined the Navy in 1966 because he did not want to be drafted. He served on the USS Prichett DD 561 doing two tours to Vietnam. On May 16, 1970 he married the love of his life Kaye Brock Pompili and the went on to have two sons Michael and Chris and three grandchildren Katy, Nate, and Alivia who were his pride and joy. After leaving the Navy Alfonso worked as a welder and fabricator for more than 40 years. He belonged to the VFW 9916 serving as Commander and DAV Chapter 45. He loved spending time with his best friend in life his wife. He loved camping at their place Big Bear and riding their Trike Motorcycle to different States and places. He was proud of his service to his Country. He looked forward every Veterans Day to going to the Veterans Day Breakfast at Katy and Nate's school and speaking to Katy's class. Alfonso fought for 10 years for the Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma caused by exposure to Agent Orange during his service in Vietnam. He thanked God for each day. On July 25, 2015 he took Jesus hand into heaven. Alfonso lived each day for Jesus, his wife, his sons and their wives. Most of all he wanted to see his grandchildren grow up which he did not.
