Biography

Sergeant James B Anderson of the United States Army served in Vietnam from January 2, 1969 through January 1, 1970. He proudly served in Echo Recon Company, 5th Battalion, 46th Infantry Regiment of the 198th Light Infantry Brigade of the Americal Division. Jim’s military service was a snapshot of his life’s story, and while he was Sergeant to the US Army, he was blessed with titles that also brought him a tremendous amount of pride. He celebrated 50 years of having the title of “Husband” to his wife, Sandra. He carried the title of “Dad” to his daughters, Dawn and Karen. He was father-in-law, grandpa, son, son-in-law, grandson, nephew, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend. More specifically he was a hard-working man, a dedicated husband, an understanding dad, a fun-loving uncle, a protective brother, a proud grandpa, and a loyal friend. He lived life to the fullest and considered his family his greatest accomplishment. Jim had a love of cars and motorcycles – restoring, rebuilding, and racing them! He created lifelong memories camping and traveling with his family, and going to the races and on motorcycle rides with friends. Each year Jim looked forward to traveling the country with Sandi and trading the cold Illinois winters for the warmth of Texas and friends. Also, a victim of Agent Orange, Jim left behind a family that chooses to spend the rest of their lives honoring his memory and his contributions to the lives of his family and friends. A family that chooses to be grateful for the time we had, the love we shared, and the stories that will carry his memory on to future generations. A family that commits to taking the best pieces of him and making them part of who they are, thereby continuing the life of Jim Anderson.
