Biography

David Christian Bernreuter was born September 3, 1947 in Saginaw Michigan. He graduated from Saginaw High School in 1965. He went to work for Saginaw Steering Gear (General Motors) after graduation. He was drafted into the Army in 1967. David proudly served his country in Vietnam in 1967 and 1968 with the 196th Light Infantry Brigade. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he returned to his job at Saginaw Steering Gear where he retired after 30 years. The most important thing to David was his family. He has two sons and three grandchildren whom he adored and doted on. He attended all of their extracurricular activities and proudly told everyone he was their biggest fan. David's love for boating began after he retired. He lived on his boat every year from April through October. line dancing and country music were also huge part of David's life for many years. He was a proud member of The Dust Stampers and made numerous life/orig friends. David was extremely proud of his service to the United States. He proudly wore his Vietnam Veteran hat every day. The American Flag was always flying on his boat. David passed away July 21, 2019 from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS}, Lou Gehrig's Disease, from exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam. David lived every day to the fullest and was never without a smile. He is greatly missed every day by his family and friends.
