Biography

Ronald Lee Harris was born June 18, 1948 to Jack and Montie Harris in Amarillo, Texas. He had two younger brothers, Michael and Jason. He proudly enlisted in the United States Army on March 6, 1967. After basic, he spent time in Germany and then in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged on December 27, 1971 with 100% disability. While serving he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with V Device (1 Oak Leaf Cluster), Purple Heart, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device 60, Good Conduct Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert (Rifle M-14) and Army of Occupation Medal (Berlin). He married the love of his life, Sheila Ann on July 17, 1971. They had three children: Katie Beth Bingham (1971) and husband Chris, Ryan Lee Harris (1976) and wife Carole and Erick Michael Harris (1982). Their children blessed them with four grandchildren: Karibeth Leigh Bingham (2004), Adayla Rae Harris (2005), Christina Raye Bingham (2007) and Riley Logan Harris (2007). He passed on September 16, 2004 due to complications from liver cancer and exposure to Agent Orange. Despite being a bilateral leg amputee he never held back. He was a compassionate man who was deeply loved and is missed every day. He loved fishing, hunting and supporting his children.
