Biography

Hobert J. Dodson was born on October 18th 1942, on a farm in Mercer County Missouri. He was a 1959 graduate of Ravanna High School. After high school he ran a filling station in Ravanna, until he married and moved to Kansas City, MO. In January of 1967, he was drafted into the army and served in Vietnam for one year, where he received the Purple Heart and other various medals. Upon being discharged in 1969, he and his wife Beverly, ran a dairy farm in Mercer County until 1986 when he and his family moved to Huntsville, MO, where he worked on a farm and later for Custom Composite until he retired. He had one daughter Stacie Ann, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He loved going to all of their events. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #15026, the American Legion Post #0006, both of Moberly, MO, and a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #48 of North Missouri. In February of 2014, Hobert passed away in the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans' Hospital. The cause of death was Metastatic Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the lungs, (lung cancer).
